180g, black Vinyl. 1974. the Cosmic Jokers were basically Klaus Schulze, Manuel Göttsching, various Ash Ra Tempel and Wallenstein members doing late night jamming. Galactic Supermarket is one of them, and is more rock-oriented than many others. It''s no surprise the music bears more than a passing resemblance to Ash Ra Tempel, because of Manuel Göttsching and his guitar playing. Also Jürgen Dollase gives some nice keyboard work, particularly the piano, Farfisa electric piano, synths, and even a little Mellotron. Klaus Schulze were more responsible for the more droning organ and synth end of things, it''s pretty obvious when he plays it. The legendary producer Dieter Dierks plays Bass on these nearly never ending improvisation. The recording was transferred from the original analog tapes at the Dierks Studios in Germany. You can taste alot of Stooges, screaming saxes in full Steve Mackay style, pounding pianos, some Bakersfield California Country swing, some haunting desert sunset vibes and most of all the classic rock n'' soul that has become King Khan''s genuine signature sound. The resulting gumbo is as tasty as ever and even has the Oakland Taco King, Oscar "El Tacoban" Michel on Bass and legendary Oakland drummer for hire Garrett "with an A in the O" Goddard bashing the skins. "We made this album in about one week, I got the Gris Gris to back me up and do a few shows in all the murder capitals of America. Black vinyl printed innersleeve Straitjacket with Freddie Wadling on bass and vocals was one of the first punk bands in Sweden. The first gig took place at a motorcycle club and at a gig shortly afterwards, the band was offered money by the organizer to leave the stage prematurely. The band split in the summer of 1978 and the members continued in bands such as Liket lever, The Leather Nun and Blue for Two. Straitjacket never had time to make an album, but after searching in the members'' stashes and more than 40 years later finally release the mythical Gothenburg punks on LP. When Märvel came out of their last studio session for the critically acclaimed "In The Sunshine Factory", the band had already started talking about the next project. The band wanted a break from the normal routine and also a quick follow up to "Sunshine...". The idea to put together a second cover album was born even earlier, and being Märvel it couldn''t just be a straight forward here-are-some-rock-songs-we-like-that-you-all-heard-before-and-that-are-better-in-its-original-version cover album. It had to be something other, something a bit more weird. As a band that enjoys a lot of music from different genres, and that embraces the odd and the awkward, what better way to approach it than exposing some of their guilty pleasures in all its glory! And in doing so also showing that good songs are hidden everywhere, and stating that if you''re a person that can only appreciate music packaged as rock, here''s a package for you!
