In the wake of defunct Palm Springs originators Kyuss, musicians worldwide coalesced to craft their own visions for the desert rock sound. Standing foremost among them was Lowrider, whose debut, "Ode to Io," became the blueprint countless others would follow. Following their return in 2020 with new album "Refractions," we proudly reissue their seminal chronicle of rumbling desert-heaviness! In their own words: Ode To Io (1-10) was recorded and produced by ourselves at KM Studios, Karlskoga, Sweden in Novembre of 1999. Tracks 11 & 13-16 were previously released as the Nebula and Sparzanza -Lowrider split singles. We recorded and produced them as well, also at KM Studios, Karlskoga, Sewden in May of 1998 (tracks 13-16) and August of the same year (track 11). Track 12 previously released as the "I Am Vengeance" Soundtrack in 2001. We recorded that some time in 2000 - it''s a bit of a blur that one. Som titeln på denna Cortex utgåva utlovar, så stängs denna flik av Cortex outgivna inspelningar från 1987 med två olika ljud-dokument. Huvudingrediensen på plattan är Sea Of Lunacy. En låt som också var med på det 1:a ''analoga mix-band som utgjorde förra årets succé - 1987.'' Henryk Lipp har fått fullt mandat att se till så att låten blivit klar - det som fanns var ju bara fragmentariskt. Resultatet har blivit den duett som var den ursprungliga intentionen: Annika von Hausswolff (då Söderholm) har nu lagt ny sångstämma och samspelet mellan henne och Freddie Wadling är komplett. Den andra låten från de avbrutna Studio Lane inspelningarna 1987 är Heart of Steel, här i en mix-down från det året. Den andra sidan på plattan innehåller ett antal live låtar med just denna version av Cortex: gitarristerna Ola Andersson och Pontus Lidgard, trummisen Uno Wall och bakgrundssångerskorna Anna-Lena Karlsson och Annika von Hausswolff . och Freddie Wadling på bas och sång. Vi ville gärna ha med denna sättning av Cortex live på plattan och dessa inspelningar gjordes med en enkel kassettbandspelare på Club Caesar i Göteborg, därav bootleg-soundet .. men Henryk Lipp har lyckats mejsla fram en acceptabel struktur. 1.
