The EP features five new songs written and recorded specifically for this release. Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People shows the return of drummer Tim Alexander to the lineup, who had previously left the band in 1996. He joins Claypool and LaLonde in performing on the EP. Antipop is the sixth studio album by alt-rock band Primus, originally released on October 19, 1999. It was the band''s final release before their hiatus from 2000 to 2003. It was also the last album with drummer Bryan Mantia. The album features several well-known guest musicians and producers, including Tom Waits, James Hetfield (of Metallica), Jim Martin (former member of Faith No More), Fred Durst (of Limp Bizkit) and Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine). The band has regarded the album''s production as tense and uncomfortable, with the members of the band not getting along well with each other during recording. After the release of the album the band went on a three-year hiatus from 2000 to 2003. The group was founded after a 1976 Sex Pistols gig, and the late great Ian Curtis joined the group soon after. By their first official gig, in 1977, they were already the talk of NME and a rush to sign and record led the group to RCA. Recording in Manchester''s Arrow Studios in May 1978 brought a full album''s worth of songs but the band ultimately didn''t like the direction of the production and asked to be released from their contract. Here is that mythical unreleased album along with the earliest demos from the group, recorded in 1977. Essential stuff for any fan of UK post-punk.
