Under några intensiva år i slutet av 1970-talet vände Fiendens Musik upp och ner på den svenska rockscenen. Bandet tog sitt namn i polemik mot de vänstergrupper som hävdade att all rockmusik var just fiendens - i det fallet USA-imperialismens - musik. Fiendens Musik kombinerade ett allvar i sina låttexter med en befriande humoristisk distans i sina livespelningar som fick publiken att hoppa upp och ner och sjunga med i refrängerna. Rockkritikern Lennart Persson sammanfattade det så här: "Fiendens Musik från Lund skulle kunna kallas ett punkband, eftersom gruppen steg in på den svenska rockscenen precis i det ögonblick då den engelska punkvågen rullade in över den. [...] Med texter fulla av ironi och samhällskritik, socialrealism och dylanskt utflippade ordramsor och med ett aggressivt sväng i musiken blev man ett högst älskat liveband runt om i Norden." En spark rätt i skallen är en tidskapsel som både avslöjar det politiska spelet när punken utmanade proggen och skildrar den oerhört kreativa punkscenen, inte minst i Malmö/Lund, där man inte väntade på att få allt serverat - man gjorde det själv. Boken berättar om skivaffärerna och musikställena som var den unga generationens livsluft. Den berättar också om sammanhållningen och solidariteten bland de unga Lundabanden - TT Reuter, Garbochock, Rädsla, City Kent och många fler. Författaren och journalisten Karl G Jönsson var en av många kreativa krafter i Fiendens Musik. I boken berättar han om allt, från extatiska Stockholmsspelningar till Mats Olssons raseri i Expressen och proggarnas attack mot en ny musik som väckte deras vrede. Den idag välkände fotografen Mats Bäcker bildade bandet som nittonåring tillsammans med Mats Zetterberg.
