The album marks 40 years since they released their debut single. In conjunction with the album, the band embarks on an extensive European tour this spring, including stops in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. 

Glasgow Eyes was recorded at Mogwai's Castle of Doom studio, where Jim and William Reid continued their creative process, which in 2017 resulted in the album Damage and Joy, which gave the band their highest chart placement in over 20 years. At Glasgow Eyes, the duo, one of Britain's most influential bands,  embraced productivity in the latter part of his career where melodies, feedback and controlled chaos intertwined. Here, their love for Suicide and Kraftwerk can be heard even more clearly, combined with a newfound appreciation for jazz's laid-back attitude.
